Carey was almost 5'10 tall when she became a top model. Her popularity among American designer Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. Her father is an accomplished geologist, who was awarded Scientist of the Year in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was brought up all over the planet due to her father's career. While she attended an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey began modeling on the side. The Ford's model agency located in New York noticed her and asked for help. In the year 1980, she emigrated to France where she briefly resided in Paris and Bordeaux, before returning in New York in order to continue an acting career. She appeared on Vogue as well as Glamour covers. She was a full-time student in New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned while working on modeling assignments.
