Sharon Yvonne Stone was born on the 10th of March, 1958, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to accountant Dorothy Lawson and tool and die maker also a former worker at a factory Joseph William Stone II. Michael, Kelly and Patrick are her three siblings. Stone was in second grade when she entered kindergarten at age five. She graduated with a high school diploma in Saegertown in Saegertown situated in Pennsylvania in the year 1975. She was also a contestant in Saegertown's Miss Pennsylvania beauty pageant, winning Miss Crawford County. Stone moved together with her aunt from New Jersey, where she pursued a career in modeling. The following month, Stone signed up at the Ford Modeling Agency. Soon after, Stone relocated back to Europe and spent the entire year in Milan as well as Paris. However, Stone became disillusioned with modeling and fashion in Europe and decided to take up acting while in the country. She appeared at 20 in Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories," a film that received mixed praises.
